# IPstack

> IPstack is a real-time IP geolocation API returning 100+ data fields per lookup: location (country, region, city, latitude/longitude), timezone, local currency, connection details (ISP, ASN, connection type), and security signals that flag VPNs, proxies, and threats. It covers 2M+ locations and 200K+ cities worldwide, supports IPv4 and IPv6, returns JSON or XML within milliseconds, and runs on 99.9%-uptime infrastructure with 256-bit SSL and data sourced through ISP partnerships. Used by companies including Microsoft, Airbnb, Samsung, Activision, and HubSpot.

A free API key is available at https://ipstack.com/signup/free - no credit card required. A single lookup is one GET request: api.ipstack.com/{IP_ADDRESS}?access_key=YOUR_KEY. Three endpoints are available: Standard Lookup (single IP), Bulk Lookup (multiple IPs per request), and Requester Lookup (the calling IP). Optional parameters enable hostname resolution, the security module, response-field filtering, output language, and JSONP callbacks.
